The phrase "For such a time as this" is often quoted in Christian circles as a source of comfort. We put it on coffee mugs, journals, and wall art. We use it to feel special, chosen, and safe.

But if we look at the context of the Book of Esther, those words were not a comfort; they were a confrontation.

Esther was not safe in the palace; she was in the belly of the beast. She was a hidden believer in a pagan empire, facing a decree of annihilation against her people. When Mordecai sent word to her, he wasn't telling her she was special; he was telling her she was responsible.

"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14)

This was a call to risk everything. It was a call to die to self-preservation ("If I perish, I perish") for the sake of a purpose greater than oneself.

That is where we find ourselves today. The season of comfortable Christianity is over. The season of the "Hidden One" simply surviving in the palace is ending. God is calling His sons and daughters to step out of the shadows and advocate for the Kingdom, even when it violates the protocols of the culture.
