The Burden of the Watchman: Why We Must Test Prophecy
Prophecy is a powerful gift. It can unlock destiny, shift atmospheres, and give direction to nations. But in recent years, we have seen the damage caused when this gift is disconnected from character and accountability.
Too often, the modern prophetic movement has been treated like a spectator sport.
We scroll through social media, looking for the prophet who promises the biggest breakthrough, the quickest turnaround, or the most sensational political outcome. We consume words like candy, getting a "sugar rush" of hope, only to crash when the reality doesn't match the prediction.
This cycle has created a crisis of credibility. The world looks at the Church and sees confusion rather than clarity.
Returning to the Plumb Line
The solution is not to despise prophecy; the Bible commands us not to do that (1 Thessalonians 5:20). The solution is to test it.
The Prophetic Vault is committed to a different standard. We believe in the mandate of 1 Corinthians 14:29:
"Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge."
Notice the responsibility there. The "others"—the Body of Christ—are called to judge. That word isn't critical; it's judicial. It means to weigh, to evaluate, and to discern.
A true prophetic word is not just for excitement; it is for alignment.
The Three Tests of a Word
As we move forward in this ministry, every insight released from this Vault is submitted to these three tests. I encourage you to use them for every voice you listen to:
The Test of Scripture: Does this align with the written Word of God? The Spirit of Prophecy never contradicts the Spirit of Truth.
The Test of Character: Does the messenger carry the fruit of the Spirit? Giftedness is not a substitute for godliness. Balaam was gifted, but he was corrupt. We need fathers and mothers, not just oracles.
The Test of Time: Did it come to pass? We need to have hard conversations about where we have missed it. This is not about shame; it is about course correction. A humble prophet admits when they missed the signal; a proud prophet makes excuses.
We Are Here to Go Deeper
If we want the world to listen to the counsel of the Lord, we must be a people who value truth over trends.
This website is not an echo chamber. It is a training ground. We are here to study the patterns of God and to mature into the Sons and Daughters who can handle the weight of His glory without stumbling.
We are returning to the plumb line.
Go Deeper: Discernment vs. Suspicion
There is a difference between biblical discernment (which protects you) and a critical spirit (which poisons you). Many people reject prophecy because they have been wounded by it.
My book, A Free Mind, deals specifically with healing from spiritual abuse and religious trauma so you can hear God clearly again—without the filter of pain.
